Pao Wai-hung, un flic acharné, arrête Mak Kwan, un simple perceur de coffre fort, suite à la mort d'un architecte. Lors de la confrontation, les choses tournent mal : Mak Kwan n'assume pas son crime et est bien déterminé à s'évader au plus vite. Pao, de son côté, voit ses convictions remises en doute. Le flic et le criminel seraient-ils plus proches qu'ils ne l'imaginent ?
