The son of the King of Saxony is very interested in women, but his father wants a good match for him and therefore has all other loves killed. So also the parents' house of the beautiful Kunigunde is torched, but she can escape with the help of a squire, who can then temporarily bring her to safety in the care of the vegetarian bear Beppo.
