Du haut de ses 80 ans, Gabrielle de Miremont, grande bourgeoise catholique, semble inatteignable. Jusqu’à ce matin-là, où un gendarme vient lui annoncer la mort de son fils tant aimé le père Pierre-Marie. Le monde s’écroule. Cet effondrement pourtant, prend racine un mois plus tôt, à la suite d’un article paru dans la presse révélant une affaire de pédophile dans la région…
