Le Juge Thorne fait sa loi
Le juge Rick Thorne (Joel McCrea) entend traduire en justice un meurtrier (Kevin McCarthy) dont le père (John McIntire) règne d'une main de fer sur une localité. Aidé par le shérif local et la sœur du meurtrier, Rick Thorne entreprend de mener son prisonnier au procès, loin de ce lieu où la peur est latente. Mais la route sera parsemée d'embûches, le père ne tenant pas à ce que la justice ait son mot à dire.
